International Appalachian trails : Known internationally, the international Appalachian trail and its foot trails runs alongside the eastern coast of the United States. Approximately 3 500 km long, it links Mount Springer in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine. It crosses the Appalachian chain of mountains in Québec, New Brunswick and the United States.
In the province of Québec, the trail begins in Gaspésie in the Matapédia village. It continues its route towards Amqui and then in direction of Matane. Then on, it connects to the national park of Gaspésie in Mount Logan and follows its course in the Chic-Choc mounts with Mount Albert and finally Mount Jacques Cartier. The trail ends in the national park of Forillon at the extremity of the gaspesian peninsula. In all, it measures 4 977 km if you include the American portion. Since 2002, Newfoundland has added 1 200km of trails to the run.
In Gaspésie, the trail ends in Park Forillon where you will find the MOTEL DU HAUT PHARE (high lighthouse motel). Located in an enchanting site facing the St. Lawrence gulf and the northern cliffs of Forillon Park, from the motel, you will be able to admire the highest lighthouse of Canada, the famous lighthouse of Cap-Des-Rosiers.
