Pointe-à-la-Renommée Historic Site

Cultural

Repatriated from Quebec in 1997, this lighthouse now rests on the base of the first maritime-radio station in North America, installed by Marconi in 1904. A guided tour of the lighthouse and of the reconstructed building, of the W.T. (Wireless telegraph) will make you travel back in time. To know more about the means of communication at the beginning of the 20th century and on the history of this site, two exhibits are also proposed, such as «Marconi, radio and communications history» and «The space of a lifetime at Pointe-à-la-Renommée».
